Brazilian Immigration to America in the 20th Century
Official Brazilian immigrants make up .1% of the American population. There have been 346,000 Brazilian immigrants to the U.S.A. in the 20th century. Some common work that Brazilians have found in America is engineers, models, and lawyers that help other Brazilians adapt. Illegal Brazilians usually do house work and construction. Many Brazilians settle in Massachusetts, Chicago, Florida (South, Central, and the Keys), Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, New Jersey, and Greenwich. I don’t know why they settled there because geographically is to the south of the USA. Some push factors are that in the 1960-80 there was a dictatorship and it forced people to leave Brazil (many were exiled). Many, many Brazilians come to study but they don’t stay they leave, Ex. My dad's family. Also many came for Economic opportunity, and send for the families. But recently there masses of Brazilians leaving America coming back to Brazil due to the crisis and Brazil's rising economy.
